Biography
Dr. Steven Weimer is an Associate Professor in the Honors Program at ½ñÈճԹϺÚÁÏ, specializing in ethics, applied ethics, and the philosophy of agency.
His research centers on the nature and normative implications of autonomy. In a series of articles on the topic, he has developed a novel theory of personal autonomy and applied that theory to a number of the moral and political issues in which conceptions of autonomy play an important role, including moral responsibility, political self-determination, global justice, and medical ethics. He has developed and led courses on a range of applied ethics topics, including computer, environmental, medical, and military ethics as well as the philosophy of law and of punishment.
At ½ñÈճԹϺÚÁÏ, he teaches the Honors Program’s courses on Interdisciplinary Approaches to Big Ideas, Philosophy and Epistemology of Science, and Professional and Research Ethics.
